Colleagues, sometimes to make a joke sometimes because they really believe in, ask me why there are so many ‘good’ photographers in Tuscany. Well apart myself – there are much much better than me – this consideration has its foundation. Not only by the number of wedding photography contest won internationally, which is absolutely not a reference two-way, but objectively looking at the photographs of various colleagues we realize the good level reached.
I think the answer is in the land where we grew up, Tuscany and its cities: Florence, Siena, Lucca, Pisa, Arezzo. The beauty of the things as if by osmosis settles in DNA and grows with us from Tuscany. Villa Il Garofalo, the place where I made this marriage, is unique. Among the most beautiful locations that we have in Florence. A terrace on the beauty.
Bianca, the bride, is more than a year that organizing, with the help of two nice wedding planner, her marriage. Together we took pictures of engagement, civil marriage in the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence, and the religious ceremony at Villa Il Garofalo. I followed with my picture all the most important stages of this couple until the Big Day.
The bride’s getting ready in the Regis Hotel suite in Florence with one overlooking the Arno. The arrival in a Rolls Royce to the villa. More than 150 guests – half came from Brazil, the country of origin of Bianca – , welcome the bride with wonder and joy. The bride wears one of the most beautiful dresses I’ve photographed. Her smile is sunny. Francesco, the groom, so emotional, waits her to the altar. The corridor of flowers – beautiful compositions – that divides them seems to be never ending.
A hug and starts the wedding mass. Florence with the Duomo by Brunelleschi and Palazzo Vecchio are a frame that make the event unique. At the end the throwing of rice and petals and after, while the guests are enjoying the appetizer buffet, I take the couple for about ten minutes for a photo session in the Villa Il Garofalo garden.
A series of shots in total spontaneity with Bianca and Francesco who walk among the trees in the park. The sun is setting and a warm light ‘turns on’ the contours of the spouses. In its beautiful white wedding dress she looks like a princess. A touch of vintage photographs makes atmosphere timeless. As a photographer I go into a kind of trance. Everything goes through the camera. Smiles, hugs, kisses, knowing looks, the spouses are not aware of when I take pictures and the result are natural moments, without forced poses, candid.
The evening continues. The appetizers are rich, including raw fish and Tuscany ‘salumi’. The floral arrangement is great, again Gianni, by Tuscany Flowers, gave the best of themselves. The guests gasp as they read their name from the tableau mariage and take their seats in their places. During dinner also celebrates the birthday of the grandmother of the bride off 84 candles. The wonderful voice of a tenor accompanies some moments of the wedding dinner. Cutting the cake in the garden of Villa Il Garofalo and then disco music in the dining room. A DJ puts the finishing revisited disco hits and accompanied live by the notes of a saxophonist. The guests are euphoric.
A very nice wedding, amazing and stunning wedding. I really enjoyed taking pictures. As you see from my photos, my style is photo journalistic, catching the moments. The beauty of the couple, the amazing wedding dress and Florence in the background have certainly helped to get a good photographic result.
