Devin e Stephanie, dal Texas a Firenze. Un matrimonio iniziato un anno fa (English version at the end)

24 Aprile 2014, Devin e Stephanie sposi!

Bride and groom talk about their Big Day

On April 24th, lovers across Italy bathed in the warmth of the Spring sun as it began to breathe life into the trees and hills of the Tuscan countryside beating back the dreariness of the long, wet winter.  For two American lovers, Stephanie and Devin, those warm rays splashed down over them and their guests as they celebrated their matrimonial vows in the splendor of Fiesole’s Castello di Vincigliata.

It was days such as this, along with Tuscany’s breathtaking scenery and world-famous food and wine, that convinced this Texas couple to travel with their guests to Florence as they celebrated their most special day.  In the couple’s minds, they thought they had to share their love for the Tuscan way of life, the history, the art, the food and the wine with those who are most dear to them and what better way to do this than with a wedding adventure showcasing all that the area around Florence has to offer.

After treating their fellow American guests to numerous meals at fine restaurants, a guided tour of the Florence sights, an olive oil and balsamic vinegar tasting, the spectacle of the Carrio di Scoppio, and a rustic cooking class in the countryside, the couple organized the finale of this week-long adventure in the hills above Florence at the Castello di Vincigliata.

Against the backdrop of this ancient castle with its sun-drenched walls blanketed in spring bloom, the families and guests spread out across the lower terrace with its lush green lawn to witness these two lovers promise themselves to each other.  As the idea of marriage is timeless and traditional, the guests wore vintage-inspired dresses and suits with muted colors that allowed the beauty of the hillside below and the deep blue above to star in the show.  The groom in his smart, navy blue tuxedo waited at the appointed place with the officiant as the bride floated down the aisle in the most elegant and beautiful dress imaginable like a princess from another age.

After the customary vows and formalities and cocktail hour in the castello’s garden, the party sat down to a wonderful meal of traditional Italian fare and wine from the Castello (Testamatta).  And while the evening drew on and the sun finally dipped below the horizon, the party continued with dancing and celebrations until the evening finally came to a close in the quiet of a tranquil night.

Moments like these, with all their preparations and plans, are fleeting with the sun yet the couple is incredibly thankful for the experiences they had and gave and even more blessed that all these memories have been committed to time and history in Edoardo’s and Sergio’s amazing photos.
